Foreign Minister meets with Greek counterpart

New York, Sep. 22 (BNA): Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Giorgos Gerapetritis, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Republic, at the United Nations headquarters on the sidelines of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly.
The meeting reviewed the longstanding and close ties between the Kingdom of Bahrain and Greece, which continue to develop across various sectors, and discussed means to further develop bilateral cooperation in key areas of mutual interest.
The two ministers explored means to enhance cooperation, coordination, and consultation during their membership in the UN Security Council.
They also exchanged views on recent developments in the Middle East, the war in the Gaza Strip, efforts to recognise the independent State of Palestinian, and other regional and international issues of common concern.
The meeting was also attended by Ambassador Jamal Faris Al Ruwaie, Permanent Representative of Bahrain to the UN in New York; Ambassador Shaikh Abdullah bin Ali Al Khalifa, Director General of Bilateral Relations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and Ali Khalid Al Araifi, Chief of Al Madar Centre.
