The President and His Armenian Counterpart Stress the Need to Respect Int'l Law and Promote the Principle of Dialogue to Resolve Conflicts

Baghdad / NINA /-President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid and his Armenian counterpart, Vahagn Khachaturyan, stressed the importance of respecting international law and adopting dialogue as a means to resolve conflicts and promote international peace and security.

A statement from the President’s media office said that Rashid received Khachaturyan on the sidelines of his participation in the United Nations General Assembly meetings in New York. The two leaders discussed bilateral relations and ways to expand cooperation between Iraq and Armenia in the fields of economy, culture, and higher education.

The statement added that the meeting also addressed the work of the General Assembly and its expected outcomes, in addition to reviewing current international issues, particularly the growing tensions and the crises of food security and energy, as well as migration and climate change. Both presidents affirmed the need to intensify joint efforts to confront these challenges through strengthening multilateral cooperation and promoting international solidarity.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region Qubad Talabani, Minister of Health Saleh Al-Hasnawi, Chief of the Presidency’s Office Kamel Al-Dulaimi, Prime Minister’s Advisor Khaled Al-Yaqubi, along with several officials from both sides. /End
