King Abdulaziz Library's Equestrian Studies Center Highlights Role of Horses, Horsemanship in Saudi Unification, Nation-Building
Riyadh, September 22, 2025, SPA -- The King Abdulaziz Public Library gives special attention to Arab and Islamic heritage in all its forms, including written manuscripts, traditional customs, folklore, as well as historical sites and eras.
The library's focus also extends to a distinctive aspect of life in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia: horses and equestrian arts. This authentic cultural heritage originated in the Arabian Peninsula, with its identity and knowledge evolving over the centuries.
Saudi rulers have cared for horses and equestrian traditions since the founding of the state, a commitment that has continued from the unification of the Kingdom in 1932 to the present day.
The library also established the equestrian studies center, a prominent knowledge hub for studying Arabian horses and horsemanship, encompassing all related information and insights, highlighting their cultural heritage and contemporary manifestations.
The center houses an extensive collection of rare items, including books, studies, manuscripts, photographs, paintings, and coins related to horses and equestrian traditions. It has a library that contains a wide range of works in Arabic and other major world languages, covering topics such as horse breeds and lineages, horses in Arab heritage, famous horse names, horsemanship in the Arabian Peninsula, horses in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and a substantial collection of both Arab and foreign studies in the field.
These efforts underscore the King Abdulaziz Public Library's continued commitment to highlighting the rich heritage of horses and equestrian, providing a comprehensive knowledge system for researchers, scholars, and enthusiasts at the local, Arab, and international levels.
