Stormy weather leaves one dead, over 200 homeless

SEOUL, July 15 (Yonhap) -- One person was killed and more than 200 others left
homeless by Tuesday's seasonal downpour that swamped Seoul and the country's
central regions, a government disaster-relief agency said Wednesday.
A 51-year-old man was killed in a mudslide at a construction site in Namyangju,
Gyeonggi Province, the National Emergency Management Agency said.
Over 150 houses were affected by the torrential rains, with the heaviest damage
reported in Gyeonggi Province, where 116 houses were flooded and 207 people left
homeless as of Wednesday morning.
Some 67 hectares of farmland in central and eastern regions were also flooded,
while traffic control went into effect in areas where roads were submerged,
including low-lying bridges running across the Han River.
Nearly 40 domestic flights were canceled since Tuesday evening, the agency said.
