The President of the Republic Stresses the Importance of Strengthening Cooperation Relations With Iran

Baghdad / NINA /-Iraqi President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid met today, Friday, with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to discuss ways of enhancing bilateral relations and joint cooperation between the two countries, on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
A statement from the President’s Media Office said the meeting addressed regional developments in addition to the ties between Baghdad and Tehran. President Rashid stressed the importance of deepening cooperation in various fields, grounded in the historical, social, and geographical bonds linking the two peoples.
On regional affairs, the President called for effective international efforts to end wars and conflicts, particularly the ongoing aggression against the Gaza Strip. He underlined the urgent need to rescue the Palestinian people from the severe humanitarian catastrophe they are facing, and to halt repeated aggressions that undermine regional stability.
For his part, President Pezeshkian affirmed Iran’s commitment to building strong relations with Iraq, expressing support for President Rashid’s stance on the need to end conflicts and establish the foundations of regional stability.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein, Kurdistan Region Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani, Minister of Health Saleh Al-Hasnawi, Head of the Advisory Board at the Presidency Ali Al-Shukri, along with a number of Iraqi and Iranian officials. /End
