King Abdullah Medical City Develops Innovative Cervical Cancer Treatment without Anesthesia or Surgery

Makkah, October 01, 2025, SPA -- King Abdullah Medical City, a member of the Makkah Health Cluster, announced a breakthrough in cervical cancer care with the development of Nasser’s Express Insertion Technique (NEIT) for internal radiation therapy. The technique was pioneered by a medical team led by Dr. Nasser Al-Dhibani, further strengthening the Saudi healthcare model in providing integrated medical services within safe childbirth systems and advancing the Kingdom’s role in modern medicine in line with the Saudi Vision 2030.
The medical city noted that the new technique allows for treatment without anesthesia or complex surgical preparations, relying instead on simple tools that are available under all conditions. This makes it a practical option for resource-limited countries and a lifesaving solution even for advanced health systems when services are disrupted, such as during the COVID-19 pandemic. It also offers hope for patients unable to tolerate anesthesia, speeds up treatment, and significantly reduces operational costs.
According to the hospital, over 200 procedures have already been performed using this method. It has gained wide scientific recognition after being presented at the Canadian Conference on Radiation Oncology in Calgary and published in the European Journal of Radiology. The innovation coincides with the Kingdom’s 95th National Day, marking another milestone in Saudi medical achievements.
