Saudi Arabia Showcases its Global Health Efforts at UN Meetings in New York

New York, October 1, 2025, SPA -- The Ministry of Health highlighted the Saudi pioneering achievements and experiences in advancing global health during its participation in the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 80).
The ministry participated with a high-level delegation, led by Vice Minister of Health Abdulaziz AlRamaih, underscoring the Kingdom’s global health efforts, in alignment with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
In the Kingdom’s address at the fourth high-level meeting of the General Assembly on the Prevention and Control of Noncommunicable Diseases and the Promotion of Mental Health and Well-Being, AlRamaih stressed that Saudi Arabia has succeeded in reducing premature mortality from such diseases by one-third. The country achieved this through comprehensive national programs that include early detection and expanded treatment, a national diabetes plan, cancer screening programs, and the imposition of taxes on tobacco and sugary beverages.
The Saudi delegation also took part in a range of international events that underscored the Kingdom’s leadership in linking health to economic development, fostering innovation, and strengthening global partnerships.
