Criminal Investigation Director General participates in UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs meeting

Vienna, Oct. 2 (BNA): Brigadier Abdulaziz Al Rumaihi, Director General of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science, participated in the United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND) meeting, held Vienna, from September 30-October 2.
The meeting included panel discussions on the implementation of all international commitments related to drug control policies, in follow-up to the 2019 Ministerial Declaration in this regard.
A wide range of issues related to drug control were discussed, including strengthening the public health response to drug use and prevention as a key element, as well as addiction treatment services and healthcare, and the rising number of drug-related deaths. The meeting also addressed health challenges associated with drug use, including infectious diseases and other harmful health consequences.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Brig. Al Rumaihi took part in a coordination meeting organised by the Permanent Mission of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) to the United Nations in Vienna, where participants discussed a number of public health issues related to drug control, as well as ways to strengthen cooperation and exchange views.
