Finance Minister heads delegation in 124th GCC Financial and Economic Cooperation Committee meeting

Kuwait, Oct. 2 (BNA): Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Finance and National Economy, headed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s delegation in the 124th meeting of the Financial and Economic Cooperation Committee of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries. The meeting was held in the State of Kuwait with the participation of GCC finance ministers and Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the GCC.
The meeting was part of the joint efforts to enhance economic integration among GCC states and to support initiatives aimed at achieving sustainable growth, thereby advancing the global economic standing of the region.
Discussions covered several items on the agenda, including recommendations from the Committee of Central Bank Governors, outcomes of the Customs Union Authority meetings, and the results of the GCC Common Market Committee meeting, all aimed at advancing GCC economic integration and growth.
The ministers also reviewed the latest developments regarding the GCC’s free trade negotiations with other countries and economic blocs, in addition to updates on the programme to achieve economic unity among GCC states.
Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa also attended the joint meeting of the ministers of finance and central banks governors with Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, which discussed regional and global economic and financial developments. Khalid Ibrahim Humaidan, Governor of the Central Bank of Bahrain, also attended, with discussions covering current challenges and their impact on GCC economies, as well as joint efforts to boost financial stability and adopt sustainable solutions to support economic growth.
