Transportation Minister participates in 13th Energy Markets Forum

Fujairah, Oct. 2 (BNA): Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, participated in the 13th Energy Markets Forum (EMFWEEK 2025) held in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah. The forum was held on October 1-2 under the theme "How could the Midstream Energy Industry Reimagine Growth in a Disrupted World: Risks and Opportunities?".
The forum is an international platform that brings together energy experts, decision-makers, and investors worldwide to discuss key issues affecting global energy markets, current challenges, and future opportunities.
In a session on maritime navigation leadership, the Transportation Minister emphasised the importance of enhancing international cooperation to face growing threats to supply chains and the key principles of international trade. He highlighted the need to utilise modern technologies such as satellite imagery, AI based tracking, and data analytics to improve monitoring of suspicious and non-compliant vessels.
He underlined that imposing strict sanctions on ships, owners, and operators engaged in illegal activities is essential for ensuring the security and stability of energy markets. He underscored the Kingdom of Bahrain and the international community’s commitment to achieving a safe, stable, and sustainable energy market.
Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa explained that these illegal activities not only threaten maritime safety and environmental protection but also pose direct risks to the global economy and financial systems, especially in strategic waterways like the Strait of Hormuz, Bab al Mandab, and the Suez Canal, which handle most global trade.
He concluded that strengthening international cooperation and protecting vital maritime routes are key to ensuring energy market stability, environmental preservation, and supporting sustainable development.
The Transportation Minister also attended the main dinner hosted by Sheikh Saleh bin Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Chairman of the Department of Industry and Economy and Chairman of the Port of Fujairah Authority, where leaders in ports and shipping were honoured, highlighting Fujairah’s pivotal role in trade movement and global energy.
During the forum, he met with Al Sharqi and discussed enhancing integration between Bahrain’s Khalifa bin Salman Port and Fujairah Port. They focused on developing marine and logistics services, supporting economic sectors, and boosting commercial partnerships between the two countries. They also underlined the importance of uniting efforts to position both ports as key regional hubs for trade and maritime transport, ensuring sustainable supply chains that support national development plans and improve the region’s competitive role in the global economy.
