Mausoleum of King Tangun Associated with Patriotism of Peerlessly Great Men

 Pyongyang, October 4 (KCNA) -- An event took place at the Mausoleum of King Tangun at the foot of Mt Taebak in Kangdong County, Pyongyang on October 3 to mark the Foundation Day of Korea.
The mausoleum, where the remains of Tangun are buried, is a precious cultural treasure that contains the historical contents showing the developed culture, political, economic and military might of Ancient Korea and is associated with the traditional tomb style.
The ancestors called the birthday of Tangun who founded Ancient Korea, the first state in the history of Korea, Kaechonjol (the Foundation Day of Korea) and held events in memory of Tangun that day.
By the end of the last century the history of Tangun and Ancient Korea had been seriously distorted and obliterated by flunkeyists and Japanese imperialists-patronized historians and the story about the mausoleum of Tangun was a legend.
Thanks to the noble patriotic will of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il, the legendary tales about Tangun, which had been handed down for thousands of years, were proved to be a true fact in the era of the Workers' Party.
The President and the Chairman made sure that data and relics related to Tangun were comprehensively and concretely elucidated in order to correct the distorted history of ancient Korea.
They also energetically guided the work to make clear the entity of Tangun on the basis of the scientific analysis of the relics discovered at the mausoleum.
After the verification of the fact that Tangun was a real man, they unfolded a grand blueprint for the remodeling of the mausoleum and guided the work to turn the mausoleum into a monumental edifice to be handed down to posterity, preserving the then environment and the national customs.
The inauguration ceremony of the mausoleum which was remodeled magnificently as a historic treasure under the wise guidance of the peerlessly great men was held with splendor on the occasion of the Foundation Day of Korea in October, 1994.
The verification of the fact that Tangun was a real man and the remodeling of the mausoleum of Tangun scientifically proved that Korea is the cradle of human culture with the time-honored history spanning 5 000 years and Pyongyang is a sacred place where everything of the Korean nation was originated. -0-
