Council for International Dispute Resolution of Bahrain Hosts in "The Hawar Circle" to Redefine Future of International Arbitration

Manama, Oct. 7 (BNA): The Council for International Dispute Resolution of the Kingdom of Bahrain will host the inaugural "Hawar Circle" on the Hawar Islands, Bahrain, From October 6 to 8, with the participation of 14 prominent figures in the field of arbitration from various jurisdictions, including London, Singapore, Paris, Nigeria, India, and Hong Kong. The event aims to revisit and develop the core principles of arbitration, reflecting Bahrain’s commitment to enhancing international cooperation and setting future standards in the arbitration community.
The gathering focuses on reviewing and renewing the foundational standards of arbitration, inspired by the Centenary Principles of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) in London.
Over three days, the Hawar Circle will examine key practical challenges in international arbitration, encourage the exchange of experiences, and promote cooperation to define and refine principles that contribute to effective and decisive dispute resolution. The "Hawar Principles" developed during the event will undergo a six-month global review period before their final adoption.
The Hawar Circle draws its concept from historical gatherings that have shaped the course of international arbitration, notably the "Le Cercle de Chambésy" meeting held in Geneva in 1961, which led to the establishment of the International Council for Commercial Arbitration (ICCA), reflecting the ambition to establish a new model of international cooperation for the development of the arbitration system.
