HM King receives annual report of Shura and Representatives Councils for third session of sixth legislative term

Manama, Oct. 7 (BNA): His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa received the annual report of the Shura and Representatives Councils for the third session of the sixth legislative term.

 

The report was presented to His Majesty the King at Al Sakhir Palace by Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, and Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, Chairman of the Shura Council, along with the Deputy Chairpersons of both councils.

 

His Majesty the King commended the significant achievements of the legislative branch during the past three sessions, serving the interests of the nation and its citizens, and supporting the country’s development and progress. His Majesty emphasised the importance of advancing accomplishments in the next stage of this ongoing national journey.

 

His Majesty commended the constructive ideas included in the councils’ reports aimed at enhancing legislative and oversight performance and building on past successes. His Majesty stressed the importance of continued cooperation and coordination between the executive and legislative branches for the prosperity of Bahrain and all its people.

 

His Majesty expressed pride in the achievements made across various fields, the contributions of Bahrain’s citizens to the nation’s progress, and their dedication to strengthening its leadership and global standing. His Majesty affirmed that Bahrain will remain a united nation and beacon of tolerance, coexistence and openness.

 

On their part, the Chairmen of the Shura and Representatives Councils expressed deep gratitude to His Majesty for his praise and continued support, affirming that all legislative accomplishments are the result of His Majesty’s guidance and encouragement. They reiterated their commitment to serving the nation and its citizens through continued cooperation and achievement.

 

During the meeting, Dr Fawzia Yusuf Abdullah Al Jeeb, Adviser to the Chairman of the Shura Council, presented to His Majesty a book she authored, documenting Bahrain’s success in hosting the 146th Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly and accompanying meetings in 2023.

 

The Shura Council’s annual report for the third session of the sixth legislative term outlines its key achievements, including the Royal Address and the Council’s reply, committee work, draft laws, budgets, and ministerial questions, as well as its parliamentary diplomacy activities and the accomplishments of the General Secretariat.

 

The Representatives Council’s annual report highlights its main outputs, including legislative and oversight work, parliamentary diplomacy engagements, and public outreach programmes. It also highlights the General Secretariat’s achievement of ISO certification for environmental management systems, making it the first parliament in the Middle East and Asia to receive this accreditation.
