Iranian weightlifter takes silver at 2025 World Weightlifting Championships

Tehran, IRNA – Alireza Nasiri, a young weightlifter from Marvdasht, Fars Province, has won the silver medal at the 2025 World Weightlifting Championship.

Competing in the 110 kg category, Nasiri showcased his strength and skill, finishing seventh in the snatch with a lift of 184 kg. However, he excelled in the clean and jerk, securing second place with a lift of 231 kg and a total of 415 kg.

Nasiri’s impressive performance earned him two silver medals in the clean and jerk and overall categories. Notably, his clean and jerk record of 231 kg also broke the world youth record. He was able to achieve the title of world runner-up in the 110 kg category, surpassing the famous Uzbekistani weightlifter Ruslan Nurudinov.

The 2025 World Weightlifting Championships is currently underway in Forde, Norway, running from October 2 to 11.
