Kyrgyz health minister: Maternal and child health is a priority for national healthcare system

Bishkek, Oct. 15, 2025. /Kabar/. Maternal and child health is a priority for the country's healthcare system, Health Minister Erkin Checheibaev told at the opening ceremony of the new children's department at the Republican Clinical Infectious Diseases Hospital in Bishkek.

According to the minister, new children's hospitals are currently being built across the country, and some existing facilities are undergoing renovation. For example, new building for City Children's Hospital No. 3 is being constructed in accordance with modern requirements, with digitalization of processes planned. Patients will be able to schedule appointments online. Positive changes are also taking place at the National Center for Pediatrics and Maternal Health, with the introduction of modern technologies, Checheibaev noted. He emphasized that the construction of children's hospitals is actively underway not only in the capital but also in the regions.

Specialized pediatricians are being recruited in the regions, and local authorities are providing active support. Since the child's health is directly linked to the mother's condition, we are building new perinatal centers. For example, a new perinatal center was recently commissioned in Manas city, the minister added.
