Bishkek, Oct. 15, 2025 /Kabar/. Kyrgyz Finance Minister Almaz Baketayev signed agreements with the World Bank totaling $6.36 million.
According to the ministry, the documents were signed during the 59th Annual Meeting of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund.
The agreements include a $4.36 million World Bank loan and a $2 million grant. The funds to provide additional financing for the Education for the Future project, which aims to expand access to quality preschool education. The funding will be used to renovate and equip kindergartens, as well as optimize the use of their facilities to increase preschool coverage throughout the country.
During the meeting with Antonella Bassani, World Bank Vice President for Europe and Central Asia, the parties discussed key areas of cooperation, including the implementation of programs to develop human capital, digitalize the economy, and improve the public sector wage system.
Baketaev expressed gratitude to the World Bank for its support of socio-economic reforms and emphasized Kyrgyzstan's readiness to further strengthen the partnership for sustainable development and improving the well-being of citizens.
