Bahraini parliamentary delegation participates in Standing Committee on Democracy and Human Rights meeting

Geneva, Oct. 20 (BNA): A delegation from the Kingdom of Bahrain’s parliamentary group participated in the Standing Committee on Democracy and Human Rights meeting, held as part of the 151st Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) General Assembly in Geneva.
The Bahraini delegation included Dalal Jassim Al Zayed, member of the Shura Council, Hala Ramzi Fayez, member of the Shura Council and MP Dr. Mahdi Abdulaziz Al Shuwaikh.
Al Zayed underlined Bahrain’s support for international efforts to combat human rights violations, including preventing illegal adoption and protecting groups under international humanitarian law.
She called for stronger legal and humanitarian protection for children and victims of international crimes. She emphasised the need for funding, free legal aid, and psychological and medical support to help victims claim their rights.
Al Zayed highlighted the need to prosecute child trafficking and serious crimes such as genocide, torture and abduction, ensure compensation, and reunite children with their families. She also urged awareness and rehabilitation programmes for victims and reiterated the Kingdom’s support for the IPU’s efforts to uphold justice and human dignity.
