Bahraini parliamentary delegation participates in Standing Committee on Peace and International Security meeting

Geneva, Oct. 20 (BNA): A delegation from the Kingdom of Bahrain’s parliamentary group participated in the Standing Committee on Peace and International Security meeting, held as part of the 151st Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) General Assembly in Geneva.


 

The Bahraini delegation included MP Abdulnabi Salman, First Deputy Speaker of the Council of Representatives and member of the IPU Standing Committee on Peace and International Security, and Dr. Bassam Ismail Al Binmohammed, member of the Shura Council.


 

The committee discussed "arms control, non-proliferation and the prevention of a future arms race", and means to advance related global efforts.


 

MP Salman underlined Bahrain’s support for international parliamentary efforts to promote global security and stability, highlighting its commitment to arms control and non-proliferation treaties.


 

He said the Kingdom upholds international agreements and promotes good governance and accountability to ensure compliance while safeguarding national security.


 

MP Salman emphasised the importance of arms control in maintaining peace, preventing arms races, and supporting sustainable development, calling for stronger UN engagement to enhance international cooperation and stability.
