Deceased South Korean female climber's body retrieved



SEOUL, July 16 (Yonhap) -- The body of a female South Korean climber, who died
after falling from a cliff while descending a peak in the Himalayas on Saturday,
was retrieved and moved to a base camp, her agency here said Thursday.
The late Ko Mi-young, 41, lost her footing and fell to her death while making a
descent from the summit of the 8,126-meter Nanga Parbat.
Her teammates said they found Ko's body in a ravine some 100 meters away from the
Messner route and moved it to the team's base camp, the Seoul-based agent Kolon
Sport said.
Ko, who scaled Mount Everest, the world's highest peak, in 2007, conquered 11 out
of the 14 highest Himalayan peaks over 8,000 meters and was planning to tackle
Gasherbrum???, Gasherbrum II and Annapurna.
Her family will leave for Pakistan on Thursday, according to the agency.
It said that her family wants her body to be cremated and scattered at the three
Himalayan mountains which she didn't climb.
