RED DEVILS TO FIELD STAR-STUDDED CAST AGAINST M'SIA
KUALA LUMPUR, July 17 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian national team are in for an
uphill task against Manchester United since the English Premier League (EPL)
champion has listed their star-studded players for the friendly match at
National Stadium in Bukit Jalil, on Saturday.
However, the only Asian star in the team, Park Ji-Sung from South Korea who
joined the Red Devils in July 2005, was not in the list made available to
Bernama by the match organiser of the MU Asia Tour 2009, ProEvents International
Sdn Bhd.
"We just got the confirmed list this evening. We don't have any idea why
Park is not in the list," the spokesman for the organiser said.
From the list of Manchester United players who are expected here by noon
tomorrow, 18 of them are from the first team while four are from the reserves.
National coach, K. Rajagobal is expected to name his first eleven during a
joint press conference, Friday.
Kuala Lumpur is the first stop for Manchester United in their Asian Tour
2009, followed by Jakarta on July 20 against Indonesian All Stars.
After the Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta matches, Sir Alex Ferguson's boys will
take on FC Seoul in South Korea (July 24) and Chinese outfit Hangzhou Greentown
(July 26).
Manchester United will then play in the EPL 2009/2010 season curtain-raiser
- Community Shield - against FA Cup champions Chelsea at Wembly Stadium on Aug
9.
On August 15, the Red Devils start their league title defence at Old
Trafford against newly promoted Birmingham.
