Sana'a University Joins SputnikPro for the First Time

On April 29, the first Sputnik Pro-style lecture was held for students of the Faculty of Media and Communication at Sana'a University, one of the leading universities in Yemen. Sputnik Arabic's editors-in-chief, Yazan Ajouz and Suleiman Wasim, presented to students and faculty members the characteristics of news agency work with artificial intelligence (AI) technologies in the context of digital transformation, and its role in the editorial process.
In his welcoming remarks on behalf of the university, Hatem Ali Haider Muqbel Al-Salehi, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Media and Communication, said:
"We are well aware that AI technologies have permeated all fields, and in the news industry, they have reshaped the mechanisms of news production, from data collection and analysis to the use of AI in virtually every aspect of life."
During the workshop, the speakers presented participants with practical examples of using AI in news agency operations, from preparing journalistic materials and analyzing data to handling multimedia content and fact-checking tools. Special attention was also given to issues of professional ethics, credibility, and media responsibility in light of the increasing role of digital platforms.
Yazan Ajouz, editor-in-chief of Sputnik Arabic, noted that “our goal is to improve the quality of work, accelerate access to information, and expand analytical and verification tools.” For his part, Suleiman Wasim emphasized that “artificial intelligence is witnessing rapid development; it has moved from being an aid in media to an actual partner in content production.”
Students from the Faculty of Media and Communication at Sana'a University actively participated in the workshop, asking questions about the future of the profession, the role of international news agencies, and the impact of social media on shaping the news agenda.
