Malaysia Maintains Lead In Global Islamic Economy
PUTRAJAYA, May 29 (Bernama) -- Malaysia has retained its position as the world's leading Islamic economy in 2025, a recognition that highlights the country's strong Islamic financial system, halal industry, innovation and development ecosystem.
Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming said the achievement, based on the State of the Global Islamic Economy (SGIE) Report 2024/2025, reflected international confidence in Malaysia's political stability, clear economic policies and overall development direction.
He said the ranking demonstrated that the MADANI Government's emphasis on good governance, investor confidence and inclusive development continued to receive recognition at the global level.
“The success of Malaysia in maintaining its position as the world's top Islamic economy proves that the Malaysia MADANI approach has placed the country on a strong, progressive and globally respected footing. This is an achievement for all Malaysians, regardless of race or religion,” he said in a statement today.
Nga said Malaysia's position ahead of several major Islamic countries highlighted the strength and competitiveness of sectors that have earned the trust of the international community.
He said the government would continue to strengthen its development agenda through the provision of quality housing, sustainable urban development and initiatives aimed at enhancing community well-being, ensuring that the benefits of economic growth are enjoyed more broadly.
“The MADANI Government will continue to work hard to ensure that the nation's prosperity translates into the well-being of the people, broader economic opportunities and inclusive, sustainable development,” he said.
Nga also called on Malaysians to continue preserving stability, unity and support for the country's development agenda to ensure Malaysia remains respected on the international stage
