Security tightened around Chinese interests

SANA'A, July 16 (Saba) - Interior Ministry has announced tightening security
procedures around the Chinese embassy, headquarters of Chinese projects and
companies in the country.

The Ministry said that measure is barely precautionary in the event Chinese students
of Uyghur Muslim nationalism studying in Yemen produce a reaction to the last events
taken place in the Xinjiang region recently that claimed a number of lives of
Uyghur.

Uyghur is a Turkic ethnic group living in Eastern and Central Asia. Today Uyghurs
live primarily in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (also known as Uyghurstan or
East Turkistan) in the People's Republic of China.

Large communities of Uyghurs exist in the Central Asian countries of Kazakhstan,
Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan. Smaller communities are found in Mongolia, Pakistan,
Afghanistan, Russia and Taoyuan County of Hunan province in south-central Mainland
China. Uyghur neighborhoods can be found in major Chinese cities like Beijing and
Shanghai.
