King Of Malaysia Strengthens Investor Confidence, Political Stability
By Rohani Mohd Ibrahim
KUALA LUMPUR, June 1 (Bernama) -- His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, has strengthened the country's investment appeal through proactive engagement in economic diplomacy and national governance, complementing Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s economic policies and boosting international investor confidence, according to an academic.
International Islamic University Malaysia's Ahmed Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws lecturer, Associate Professor Dr Khairil Azmin Mokhtar, said the King's active leadership has also contributed to political stability and strengthened institutional governance over the past two years.
Speaking on Bernama TV's Bernama World programme on the topic “Sultan Ibrahim: A Symbol of National Unity,” he said that while the government drives fiscal and structural reforms, His Majesty plays a constructive role in enhancing Malaysia's investment climate.
"Sultan Ibrahim has played a role in accelerating the regional economy, such as the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone, reassuring global investors about the country's economic prospects," he said.
According to Khairil Azmin, Sultan Ibrahim has shaped his reign around three key pillars: combating corruption, fostering social cohesion, and practising business-minded diplomacy.
He said the monarch has strengthened political stability over the past two years and served as an institutional check and balance.
He added that His Majesty has transformed the role of the monarchy from a largely passive institution into one that actively upholds the rule of law and the Constitution.
In a relatively short period of two years, His Majesty has done a tremendous job in ensuring that the government acts in accordance with both, Khairil Azmin said.
Sultan Ibrahim took the oath of office as the 17th King of Malaysia on Jan 31, 2024, and the installation ceremony was held on July 20 of the same year.
