Foreign Minister meets Azerbaijani counterpart

New York, Jun. 1 (BNA):  Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, met Jeyhun Bayramov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, on the sidelines of their participation in the sessions of the UN Security Council.

They discussed the ties and cooperation between Bahrain and Azerbaijan and means to enhance cooperation across various domains in support of the shared interests of both countries.

The two sides also discussed the latest regional developments, the repercussions of the Iranian aggression against the Kingdom of Bahrain, GCC countries and other regional states, the impact of Iran’s closure of the Strait of Hormuz on maritime navigation, international trade and the global economy, and the latest developments in the US-Iran negotiations, mediated by Pakistan, aimed at reaching a lasting and peaceful settlement and maintaining regional security and stability.

They also exchanged views on strengthening consultation and coordination on regional and international issues under discussion at the UN Security Council, in addition to reviewing matters of mutual interest.

The meeting was attended by Jamal Fares Al Ruwaie, Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Nations in New York, and the accompanying delegation.
