ALECSO Declares Baghdad The "Children's Capital Of The Arab States" For 2026

Baghdad/NINA/- The Executive Council of the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) announced the selection of Baghdad as the first Arab Child Capital for 2026, following the Council's approval, during its 124th session, of the proposal submitted by the Secretary-General, Director of Cultural Relations at the Ministry of Education, Majid Kamel Abdullah.
The Minister of Education, Head of the Iraqi National Committee, Ibrahim Namis Al-Jubouri, welcomed this important event, which strengthens Iraq's role within the Arab world and highlights its active presence in the areas of culture, education, and child welfare. He considered the selection of Baghdad as the Arab Child Capital evidence of the growing Arab confidence in Iraq's role in formulating cultural and educational initiatives that support childhood and its future./End
