KHGC Chairman: Youth are partners in promoting a culture of peace, coexistence, and civilizational dialogue
Manama, June 5 (BNA): Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the King Hamad Global Center for Coexistence and Tolerance, affirmed the pivotal role played by youth in promoting a culture of peace, tolerance, and dialogue as a deeply rooted civilizational approach guided by the wise approach of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and inspired by the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, as well as the support of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports.
On the occasion of Gulf Youth Day, Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed stressed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s commitment to supporting the advancement of youth work, enhancing the contributions of young people, and empowering them as active partners in strengthening security, stability, social cohesion, and the promotion of citizenship values.
The Chairman said that the youth sector has demonstrated an advanced level of cultural awareness that combines pride in national identity with respect for religious and cultural diversity, while expressing a strong sense of national belonging and reinforcing the cohesion of the social fabric. He further noted their role in promoting the values of mutual respect and human coexistence in the face of hate speech, extremism, and terrorism.
Dr. Shaikha Abdulla bin Ahmed pointed out that the Center is committed to empowering youth to carry the message of coexistence with love and peace through its specialized programs and initiatives implemented in partnership with national and international institutions. These include the King Hamad Leadership in Coexistence Program, the Joint Postgraduate Diploma on Coexistence, the King Hamad Chair in Inter-Faith Dialogue and Coexistence at Sapienza University of Rome, and other initiatives that are aligned with the principles of the Bahrain Declaration on Religious Freedom and the noble objectives of the Center’s initiative adopted by the United Nations establishing the International Day of Peaceful Coexistence.
The Chairman affirmed Bahrain’s continued efforts to empower youth, raise their awareness, and develop their knowledge and talents, recognizing them as the makers of the future and the cornerstone of sustainable security and stability in societies. Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed emphasized the importance of enhancing their active participation in promoting the values of tolerance, coexistence, and human harmony, thereby contributing to the continued progress and prosperity of the nation.
