Oil Minister discusses environmental and climate cooperation with Japanese officials

Tokyo, June 5 (BNA): Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Bin Daina, Minister of Oil and Environment and Special Envoy for Climate Affairs, held a series of high-level meetings with Japanese officials on the sidelines of the Island States Ocean Summit in Tokyo. 


 

Ahmed Mohammed Al Doseri, Ambassador to Japan, and Amna Hamad Al Rumaihi, Chief Executive of the Supreme Council for Environment, attended the meeting.


 

During the minister’s meeting with Kenji Yamada, State Minister at Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, discussions focused on expanding bilateral cooperation in energy, industry and environmental sectors, including investment opportunities and technological collaboration.


 

The minister also met Doi Kentaro, Vice-Minister for Global Environmental Affairs at Japan’s Ministry of the Environment. The meeting reviewed Bahrain’s environmental and climate initiatives and explored opportunities for closer cooperation in scientific research, marine monitoring and climate resilience.


 

In a separate meeting with Yohei Sasakawa, Honorary Chairman of the Nippon Foundation, the two sides discussed strengthening collaboration on environmental sustainability and exchanged views on advancing science-driven and innovative approaches to support island and coastal communities.


 

Dr. Bin Daina and the accompanying delegation also met officials from Japan’s Nuclear Regulation Authority to discuss technical cooperation, regulatory developments and the exchange of expertise in the field.
