Bahrain welcomes UAE-mediated Russia-Ukraine prisoner exchange

Manama, Jun. 6 (BNA): The Kingdom of Bahrain welcomed the success of the mediation efforts undertaken by the United Arab Emirates between the Russian Federation and Ukraine, which resulted in a new prisoner exchange involving 370 prisoners from both sides.

  
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the exchange as a positive and constructive humanitarian step that supported de-escalation efforts and enhanced the prospects for reaching a peaceful resolution to the Ukrainian crisis.

The ministry expressed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s appreciation for the diplomatic and humanitarian efforts of the United Arab Emirates and its contribution to the release of 7,471 prisoners since the outbreak of the Ukrainian crisis through 24 mediation initiatives.

The Kingdom also reiterated its support for all regional and international initiatives aimed at ending the war through dialogue and peaceful means, mitigating its humanitarian consequences, promoting regional and international security and stability, and advancing the cause of a just and lasting peace.
