UAFA President Says Eight Arab Teams Mark Historic First at 2026 FIFA World Cup

Riyadh, June 12, 2026, SPA -- President of the Union of Arab Football Associations (UAFA) Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal extended his best wishes to the Arab national teams participating in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
He said the participation of Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Qatar, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, Iraq, and Jordan represents a historic achievement for Arab football, as the tournament will feature eight Arab teams for the first time. He added that the milestone reflects the development of Arab football at all levels.
Prince Abdulaziz said the record Arab presence affirms the status of Arab players and their ability to compete in continental and international competitions. He expressed hope that the teams will deliver strong performances, achieve the best possible results, and project an honorable image of Arab football on the world's biggest football stage.
