OIC'S IHSANOGLU OUTRAGED BY JAKARTA HOTEL BOMBINGS
DUBAI, July 18 (Bernama) -- Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC)
secretary-general Professor Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu expressed outrage and anger
over the bomb attacks at two hotels in Jakarta which killed eight people
and injured others on Friday.
In condemning the bombings, he stressed the need for authorities to
identify the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
Such heinous acts run counter to the noble peaceful values of Islam, he
said in a statement issued in Jeddah.
Ihsanoglu said like previous terrorist attacks in various parts of the
Muslim World and elsewhere, the horrific and senseless terrorist attacks in
Jakarta had been a source of tremendous amount of pain, grief and distress for
the Indonesian people, Muslim world and the international community.
He conveyed his condolences to the families of the victims, expressing hope
that the wounded would make a speedy recovery.
He also expressed solidarity with the government of Indonesia in its
struggle against terrorism.
In addition to those killed, the attacks at the JW Marriott and Ritz-Carlton
hotels also injured dozens as the Indonesian leadership vowed to bring those
responsible to justice.
