Malaysia’s High-Quality Bird’s Nest Continues To Win Over Chinese Consumers

By Siti Zanariah Nor Zin

QINZHOU (China), June 16 (Bernama) -- Malaysia continues to strengthen its reputation as producer of high-quality edible bird’s nest and consolidate its position in China’s rapidly growing wellness and health food market, where demand remains among the highest in the world.

China-Malaysia Jinguyan (Guangxi) Biotechnology Co. Ltd representative Long Hui said the company primarily imports raw bird’s nest from Malaysia, as it remains the preferred choice among Chinese processors and consumers due to its consistent quality and strong market acceptance.

“Malaysia provides the best quality raw bird’s nest. We currently import around one tonne of raw bird’s nest from Malaysia annually, as the quality and consistency of Malaysian products remain highly valued in the Chinese market,” she told reporters during a recent media visit.

The company is the holding subsidiary of the China-Malaysia Investment Holding Group. It specialises in processing imported raw edible bird’s nest from Malaysia, and supplies the product to consumers across China.

Long said China is widely recognised as the world’s largest consumer market for edible bird’s nest products, and Jinguyan has built substantial processing capabilities to meet demand.

She said the company, which has 7,000 employees, maintains strict quality-control procedures.

“Trained workers manually conduct the cleaning and processing of between 10 and 30 pieces of bird’s nest each day.

“Production is scaled according to market demand, averaging about 4,000 bottles per week and supplying ready-to-consume products for the Chinese market,” she said.

Long said the business currently generates annual revenue of around 20 million yuan, underscoring the commercial value of the bird’s nest industry and the growing economic links between Malaysia and China.

Located within the China-Malaysia Qinzhou Industrial Park (CMQIP), the company is part of the “Two Countries, Twin Parks” initiative, a landmark collaboration designed to enhance industrial connectivity, trade, and investment between Malaysia and China.

The industrial park has emerged as an important gateway for Malaysian bird’s nest products entering China, supporting supply chain integration and creating new opportunities for businesses seeking access to the world’s largest consumer market for edible bird’s nest.
