CST Holds Specialized Workshop on International Trends for Quantum Computing and its Risks

   Riyadh, June 17, 2026, SPA -- The Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST) held a specialized workshop on international trends, technical developments in quantum computing, and their applications across the communications, Space, and technology sectors. Organized in partnership with Huawei, the workshop aimed to raise awareness of the risks associated with quantum computing and foster a shared vision to strengthen the readiness of digital infrastructure in the ICT sector, and adopt quantum-safe encryption technologies to protect sensitive data.
   The workshop brought together cybersecurity leaders and specialists from telecommunications and technology companies to discuss global trends in addressing potential risks of quantum computing, and international operators' experiences in deploying quantum communication networks and related services. Participants also examined approaches to adopting quantum-safe cryptographic algorithms to safeguard networks and ensure secure and reliable continuity of critical services.
   The workshop is part of CST's ongoing efforts to enable emerging technologies and keep pace with rapid developments across the Communications, Space, and Technology sectors. It also reflects CST’s commitment to strengthening collaboration and knowledge exchange with global technology partners and service providers, supporting the protection of Saudi Arabia’s digital infrastructure and ensuring the highest standards of security, resilience, and reliability in the sector.
