Thailand's MCOT, Japan's Jiji Press partner for news exchange

BANGKOK, June 19 (TNA) - Thai media firm MCOT Public Company Limited has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Japan's Jiji Press to establish a news exchange partnership aimed at strengthening bilateral relations.

Executives from MCOT, led by Acting President Dr. Yada Kasayapananat, met with Mr. Yoshiki Kishida, Executive Director for International Affairs of Jiji Press, and his delegation to discuss the partnership. The two sides also explored potential public relations projects ahead of the 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Japan in 2027.

Dr. Yada said the collaboration would enhance the quality of foreign news coverage for both organizations, reflecting a shared commitment to providing trusted journalism. Mr. Kishida welcomed the cooperation, noting that the agreement comes ahead of next year's milestone anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Thailand.

Under the MoU, both organizations will exchange news coverage to promote engagement across the public, private, and people sectors of both nations.

Founded in 1945, Jiji Press is one of Japan's two major news agencies, providing multimedia content, statistical data, and services to government agencies, alongside functioning as a domestic think tank. It operates 60 bureaus within Japan and 24 international offices. - 819 (810) (TNA)
