1MALAYSIA TO MAKE HALF OF M`SIA`S POPULATION ACTIVE IN SPORTS

JOHOR BAHARU (Malaysia), July 18 (Bernama) -- Only 20 per cent of the
Malaysia's population have made sport as part of their daily activities, Youth
and Sports director-general Fathul Razi Bakri said.

Hence, he said the government, using the 1Malaysia concept, would set a
target to see 50 per cent of the Malaysia's population participating in sport
activities by 2020.

"Under the 1Malaysia concept, sports would not involve only certain group of
people. We are targeting each individuals in the country to participate in at
least one sport as part of their daily activities."

He said this after launching the Johor-level Fitness Tour Programme 2009 and
opening the Johor Baharu Excellence Centre, here Saturday.
