Seventh Congress of GAKC Held
Pyongyang, December 11 (KCNA) -- The Seventh Congress of the General Association of Koreans in China took place in Shenyang, China on December 7.
Present there were Choe Un Bok, chairwoman of the GAKC, officials of the general association, chairpersons of the regional associations and chiefs of branches under the general association and members of the Federation of Korean Economic Workers in China and the Association of Young Korean Nationals in China.
The congress discussed the three agenda items "On review of the work of the General Association of Koreans in China during the period under review", "On amendment to the rules of the General Association of Koreans in China" and "On election of new leadership bodies of the General Association of Koreans in China".
Choe Un Bok made a report on the first agenda item.
Referring to the proud successes made by the general association during the period under review, the reporter said that the seventh congress serves as a very important occasion in developing the general association into an overseas citizens' organization of the respected Marshal Kim Jong Un both in name and in reality.
She set forth the tasks to further consolidate the General Association of Koreans in China, a patriotic legacy of the peerlessly great men, into the Juche-oriented overseas citizens' organization by embodying the idea of attaching importance to overseas compatriots clarified by Kim Jong Un and consistently holding fast to and implementing the three-point tasks of defending the rights and interests of compatriots, training new generation and preserving the national character.
Then followed speeches.
The congress discussed the second and third agenda items.
A letter to Kim Jong Un was adopted at the congress.
After the congress, a performance and reception were given.
Prior to the congress, the Sixth General Meeting of the Association of Young Korean Nationals in China took place on December 6.
The general meeting reviewed the work of the association, adopted the amended and supplemented organizational rules and formed a new leadership body. -0-
