King Abdulaziz Camel Festival Visitors Embrace Traditional Saudi Handicrafts

Al-Sayahid, December 10, 2025, SPA -- The traditional handicrafts showcased on the sidelines of the 10th King Abdulaziz Camel Festival were met with great enthusiasm from festival visitors. Their display offered attendees a valuable opportunity to explore the Kingdom's rich and ancient folk heritage. The crafts featured camel-related items, including traditional tools, alongside other traditional items.
Exhibitor Umm Mohammed told the Saudi Press Agency that these tools are crafted from natural materials, such as camel hair and sheep wool. Skilled women spin these materials and dye them using natural pigments, noting that the creation of some tools can be a lengthy process. She expressed concern that these crafts are at risk of disappearing due to a decline in public interest and fewer people learning the necessary skills. However, she praised the government's efforts in encouraging national heritage crafts that reflect the Kingdom's glorious past.
The attention and care given to traditional folk crafts by the state are underscored by the Cabinet's approval of designating 2025 as the Year of Handicrafts. This initiative celebrates the creativity of Saudi artisans and highlights the enduring value of these authentic crafts within Saudi culture.
