Smooth Traffic at Singapore-Malaysia Land Border Points - Saifuddin Nasution 

KUALA LUMPUR, July 11 (Bernama) -- Traffic flow and movement at the Sultan Iskandar Building (BSI) and Sultan Abu Bakar Complex (KSAB), the two main land entry points between Malaysia and Singapore, were reported to be smooth this morning, as 2.6 million voters headed to the polls for the 16th Johor state election.

Malaysia’s Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said this was based on updates received from the Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS).

"I received an update from the AKPS team that traffic flow and movement are smooth at BSI and KSAB this morning," he said in a post on X.

He also uploaded a 29-second video showing conditions at both entry points, with the caption: "Good job, team AKPS. Smooth traffic at BSI and KSAB this morning."

AKPS had earlier activated maximum operations at BSI and KSAB to facilitate the return of voters from Singapore for the Johor polls, including opening special lanes and activating hybrid counters and contra-flow lanes, anticipating higher congestion.

The special lanes operated for 24 hours yesterday, and will continue running from 12.01 am until 6 pm today.

The Johor state election features 172 candidates vying for 56 state assembly seats, with 1,076 polling centres and 4,889 channels opened simultaneously at 8 am this morning.

The Election Commission has set a voter turnout target of around 70 per cent, with full results expected to be known as early as 10 pm.
