Healthy Living Vital As Malaysia Moves Towards Ageing Nation Status - Wan Azizah

KUALA LUMPUR, July 12 (Bernama) -- Malaysians must embrace healthier lifestyles to ensure they remain independent as Malaysia moves towards becoming an ageing nation, said Bandar Tun Razak (district in Kuala Lumpur), Member of Parliament Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

She said greater awareness of healthy living was important in view of Malaysians’ increasing life expectancy.

“Our children may be busy with their jobs, careers and families. As we live longer today, we must make sure we can remain independent and stay healthy,” said Wan Azizah, who is also the Malaysia’s Prime Minister’s wife, when officiating the Chung De Cheras Family Fun Run 2026 at Taman Tasik Permaisuri on Sunday.

Also present were Prime Minister’s political secretary Azman Abidin and Bandar Tun Razak District Information Officer representative Syaiful Harif Adnan.

Wan Azizah also reminded the urban community to continue fostering harmony, caring for one another’s welfare and ensuring that the benefits of the country’s prosperity are shared fairly by all.

The programme also featured a digital safety advocacy session conducted by the district Information Department (JaPen) to raise awareness on preventing online fraud.

Syaiful Harif said the authorities had so far taken down numerous social media posts linked to fraudulent activities.

“The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has taken down 345,000 online posts involving scam-related activities.

“This includes online scams involving job offers, gambling and unhealthy activities, as well as content related to cyberbullying involving children,” he said.

The programme organised by the Chung De Cheras Confucian Society featured various family-oriented activities, including a Zumba session, free health screenings by Pantai Cheras Hospital and the distribution of safety campaign leaflets by Komuniti Madani Zon 2.
