KHGC Chairman underscores importance of hope on International Day of Hope
Manama, Jul. 11 (BNA): Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the King Hamad Global Center for Coexistence and Tolerance (KHGC), said the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa has established hope as a practical approach to promoting coexistence, tolerance, solidarity and mutual understanding, contributing to sustainable peace and prosperity.
Marking the International Day of Hope, held under the theme "A Global Need in Troubled Times", Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed highlighted the Kingdom of Bahrain's commitment, under the leadership of His Majesty the King and with the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to promoting hope through dialogue, trust and mutual respect.
He said hope is a core principle of the Kingdom of Bahrain Declaration, launched by His Majesty the King, which promotes freedom of religion and belief, protects human dignity and advances dialogue, moderation and tolerance.
He highlighted Bahrain's initiatives, including the United Nations General Assembly's adoption, at the Kingdom's initiative, of the International Day of Peaceful Coexistence and the International Day of Conscience, alongside international awards and initiatives that promote coexistence, tolerance, women's and youth empowerment, and the Sustainable Development Goals.
Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed said KHGC continues to translate these values into practical programmes in education, youth leadership, interfaith and interbelief dialogue, and combating hate speech through partnerships with national, regional and international institutions.
He emphasised the centre's commitment to expanding its academic and awareness programmes and strengthening partnerships to advance coexistence and tolerance, noting that hope, when combined with action, cooperation, knowledge, understanding and mutual respect, provides a foundation for sustainable peace, security, stability and prosperity.
