National Guard Health Affairs Performs Saudi Arabia's First Remote Robotic Surgery between Riyadh and Jeddah

Riyadh, July 19, 2026, SPA -- The Ministry of National Guard Health Affairs (MNGHA) successfully performed Saudi Arabia's first remote robotic surgery on a patient at King Abdulaziz Medical City in Jeddah, using a surgical robot controlled by a medical team at King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh. The achievement reflects the integration and collaboration between the kidney and urology surgery teams at the two medical cities.
Using the KANGDUO - SageBot platform, the surgical team in Riyadh remotely controlled the procedure on the patient in Jeddah with a high degree of precision. The operation was supported by advanced robotic surgery technology and sophisticated communication systems.
The achievement represents a major step forward in the adoption of remote robotic surgery in Saudi Arabia and reflects the high level of integration across MNGHA facilities. It is expected to improve the quality and efficiency of healthcare services while paving the way for specialized surgical procedures to be performed across cities without requiring patients to travel.
