Malaysia Takes VM2026 Campaign To Greater Jakarta Commuter Trains
JAKARTA, July 29 (Bernama) -- Millions of commuters in Greater Jakarta will be introduced to the Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) campaign as Tourism Malaysia rolls out its promotional campaign to one of the Indonesian capital's busiest public transport networks.
Malaysia's Chargé d'Affaires to Indonesia, Farzamie Sarkawi, said the campaign underscores Malaysia's strategy to attract more Indonesian visitors by leveraging the extensive reach of PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia (KAI Commuter).
The initiative features full exterior wraps and interior promotional displays on 20 commuter coaches operating across the Greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek) commuter rail network, serving Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang and Bekasi, over the next six months beginning this month, potentially reaching up to 1.1 million commuters daily.
He said Indonesia was among the first three overseas markets selected for the initiative, alongside Japan and China.
“Indonesia is one of Malaysia's most important tourism markets and through this strategic collaboration with KAI Commuter and PT Alternative Media Group (AMG), we hope millions of Indonesians will become more familiar with Malaysia's natural beauty, rich culture, culinary attractions and unique travel experiences," he said at the campaign's launch on Wednesday.
The initiative was expected not only to support the Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign but also to further strengthen the longstanding people-to-people ties between Malaysia and Indonesia, he added.
Meanwhile, Tourism Malaysia Jakarta Director Hairi Mohd Yakzan said Indonesia remained one of Tourism Malaysia's priority markets, making innovative promotional approaches integrated into people's daily routines increasingly important.
He said the commuter rail campaign was expected to raise awareness of Malaysia as a preferred holiday destination while supporting Visit Malaysia 2026 target of attracting 47 million international visitor arrivals.
