Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Financial System Stability Committee (KSSK) reassured markets that national financial and monetary policies will remain solid, pro-growth and pro-stability amid the leadership transition at Bank Indonesia (BI).

Finance Minister and KSSK Chair Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa stated in Jakarta on Tuesday (July 28) that coordination among financial authorities remains strong to ensure market confidence and maintain an investor-friendly climate.

"We are demonstrating to the market that our policies remain solid, pro-growth, pro-stability and market-friendly," Purbaya said.

Senior Deputy Governor Destry Damayanti has stepped in as Acting Governor of Bank Indonesia, assuming the role following the departure of long-serving Governor Perry Warjiyo.

Purbaya voiced full confidence in Destry’s capability to guide the central bank through the interim period, pointing to her extensive track record across key financial institutions, including BI and the Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS).

“Destry is not a new player; she is a veteran. She has been involved in the KSSK process for quite some time. Her knowledge is solid, and she is well-qualified to ensure monetary policy is executed seamlessly,” Purbaya added.

Destry’s interim appointment follows the statutory mandate outlined in Law No. 23/1999 on Bank Indonesia—most recently updated via Law No. 4/2026 on Financial Sector Development and Strengthening (P2SK).

Under the law, the Senior Deputy Governor automatically assumes the duties of Governor if the post becomes vacant until a permanent official is confirmed.

Meanwhile, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi confirmed separately that President Prabowo Subianto has not yet named a permanent successor for the central bank’s top job.

To fill the permanent post, President Prabowo will submit candidates to the House of Representatives (DPR) for a formal selection and confirmation process before final executive appointment.
