Foreign Minister holds phone call with Egyptian counterpart
Manama, Aug. 2 (BNA): Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, held a telephone call with Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates of the Arab Republic of Egypt. The two ministers discussed the latest regional developments and the close ties between the two countries.
Dr. Al Zayani expressed the Kingdom of Bahrain's strong condemnation of the drone attack targeting two floating natural gas processing and storage vessels at Damietta Port in northern Egypt, which resulted in fires aboard both vessels. He described the attack as a flagrant violation of international law and the Charter of the United Nations, and a dangerous escalation threatening regional security, stability, and global energy supplies.
Dr. Al Zayani reaffirmed Bahrain's full solidarity with Egypt and its unwavering support for all legitimate measures taken to safeguard its sovereignty, national security, and vital infrastructure. He also expressed appreciation for Egypt's steadfast support for Bahrain and commended its important role in promoting Arab solidarity and safeguarding Arab national security.
For his part, Dr. Abdelatty expressed his appreciation for Bahrain's sincere solidarity, reaffirming Egypt's condemnation of the hostile Iranian attacks targeting the Kingdom of Bahrain and its full support for the measures Bahrain is taking to protect its sovereignty, security, and stability. He stressed that the security of Arab states is an integral part of Egypt's national security.
The two ministers also discussed means to further strengthen bilateral cooperation and coordination across various domains. They reviewed regional developments and their implications for security and stability, reaffirming the need for the immediate cessation of hostilities and terrorist attacks, respect for the sovereignty of states and international law, and efforts to preserve regional security, stability, and the safety of civilians.
