Malaysia To Host World Pharmacy Congress Next Year

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 6 (Bernama) -- Malaysia will host the World Pharmacy Congress organised by the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) next year, said Health Minister Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad.

He said the event, scheduled to be held in the capital, was announced by FIP president Paul Sinclair during a courtesy call on him at the Ministry of Health (MOH) headquarters in Putrajaya on Thursday.

Also present at the meeting was FIP Chief Operating Officer (COO) Carola Van Der Hoeff.

"According to Paul Sinclair, Malaysia's selection as host of this prestigious event is a major recognition of the expertise and capabilities of our country's healthcare system, both regionally and internationally," Dzulkefly said in a Facebook post on Thursday.

He said the meeting also served as a platform to exchange views and explore broader strategic collaboration.

"Among the key areas of discussion were strengthening the regulation and surveillance of antimicrobial resistance (AMR), enhancing primary healthcare, improving patient safety, and advancing innovation in pharmacy services by leveraging FIP's global expertise," he said.

Dzulkefly said through the collaboration, Malaysia remains committed to sharing its local expertise and strengthening regulatory practices to ensure they remain aligned with international standards, ultimately benefiting the country's healthcare ecosystem and pharmacy services.
