Malaysian Sprinter Finishes Eighth In World Under-20 Final

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 7 (Bernama) -- Malaysian sprinter Danish Iftikhar Muhammad Roslee finished eighth in the final of the men’s 100 metres (m) at the World Under-20 Athletics Championships in Oregon, the United States, on Thursday.

The 19-year-old clocked 10.44 seconds (s) to finish eighth among nine sprinters.

American Tate Taylor clinched the gold medal after clocking 9.94s, with Jamaica’s Gary Card (10.15s) and South Africa’s Marko Fereira (10.16s) settling for silver and bronze, respectively.

Earlier, Danish Iftikhar became the second Malaysian sprinter to reach the 100m final at the World Under-20 Athletics Championships.

Muhammad Azeem Mohd Fahmi was the first Malaysian sprinter to reach 100m final at the world junior meet, finishing fifth in 10.14s in Cali, Colombia in 2022.

The then 18-year-old Muhammad Azeem even set a new national 100m record by clocking 10.09s in the heats.
