BOK chief to meet with top central bankers in Asia
SEOUL, July 20 (Yonhap) -- The chief of South Korea's central bank will attend a
meeting of top central bankers from the East Asia and Pacific region this week to
discuss how to strengthen cooperation, the Bank of Korea (BOK) said Monday.
BOK Gov. Lee Seong-tae will exchange views about deteriorating state fiscal
positions and current economic issues with governors of 10 central banks in the
region on Wednesday at the Executives' Meeting of East Asia and Pacific Central
Banks (EMEAP) to be held in Hong Kong, the BOK said.
The EMEAP was founded in 1991 to promote monetary cooperation and the exchange of
information between the region's 11 central banks.
On Thursday, Lee plans to meet with his Chinese and Japanese counterparts in
Shenzen, China, to discuss the current economic and financial situations and find
ways to enhance regional monetary cooperation.
