Sabah Offers Singapore Businesses Vast Investment Opportunities Across Key Sectors -- Invest Sabah

By Anas Abu Hassan

SINGAPORE, Aug 14 (Bernama) -- Sabah offers significant opportunities for Singaporean businesses to explore its expanding investment potential, especially in the eco-tourism and agribusiness sectors, according to the state investment promotion agency, Invest Sabah Bhd.

Its chief executive officer, Kevin George Ukang, said the state hopes to leverage its natural resources and strategic location to attract more foreign investment, especially from Singaporean companies looking to expand.

He said Sabah plans to expand its tourism offering on the back of robust tourist arrivals recorded over the past few years after the COVID-19 disruption to the global economy.

"Over the past two years, we have also captured a few investors in eco-tourism, not only in Kota Kinabalu city, but also other parts of Sabah," Kevin told Bernama after the Singapore-Sabah Business Roundtable 2026 event on Friday.

Sabah is eager to attract investments in agribusiness, downstream processing, and manufacturing, capitalising on the state's abundant land and natural resources.

"As we develop new industrial parks, the investment opportunity can also cater for the expansion of industrialisation in Sabah," he added.

Also present at the event were Sabah Deputy Chief Minister III Ewon Benedick and Malaysia’s High Commissioner to Singapore Anizan Siti Hajjar Adnin.

Organised by the Sabah Trade and Tourism Office Singapore (STTOS), the inaugural roundtable focused on unlocking lucrative investment opportunities across multiple sectors.

These include opportunities at the Kota Belud Industrial Park, Kudat Blue Economy Industrial Park, and Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park, while also exploring sustainable agriculture, digital innovation, as well as the oil and gas services and equipment (OGSE) sector.

Kevin said the roundtable discussion provided opportunities for state government agencies to engage with potential investors who were not familiar with Sabah's investment climate.

"Our objective is to share with everyone the investment climate in Sabah because every state has its different role," he added.

During his opening remarks, Ewon emphasised that Singapore has long stood as a global financial and trade powerhouse, while Sabah possesses rich resources, vibrant industries, and a rapidly growing entrepreneurial ecosystem.

"By combining Singapore's strategic connectivity with Sabah's unique strengths, the possibilities for mutual growth are boundless," he said.
