Samjiyon Food Show-2026 Held

 Pyongyang, August 15 (KCNA) -- The Samjiyon Food Show-2026 was held in Samjiyon City of the DPRK from August 10 to 14 under the sponsorship of the Central Committee of the Korean Association of Cooks.
The show was held on the theme of "Culinary culture in mountainous tourist resort". It was attended by public service and foreign service sectors, public catering sector in Pyongyang, service sectors in ministries and national agencies, provincial (municipal) catering service sectors, and hotels and public catering service sector in the Samjiyon Mountainous Tourist Resort.
The show was held in the method of making all the participating organizations prepare, display and serve designated dishes according to categories.
Attracting the attention of the visitors were sweet pumpkin pancake, vegetable bread, catfish fry, etc. presented by cooks of Chongryu Restaurant, Changgwang General Restaurant and Pyongyang Catfish Soup Restaurant.
Cooks of public catering establishments in Pothonggang, Phyongchon and Mangyongdae districts presented dumplings, mixed sauté of bean-curd and mushroom, and twist of bread in which they preserved peculiar taste and attributes of food according to the jury indices by displaying their skill.
Local specialty dishes also attracted the attention of experts.
The public catering establishments in North Phyongan, South Phyongan and Kangwon provinces presented various kinds of dishes and drinks with local characteristics including bellflower salad, potato punch and hawthorn tea.
Fern sauté, cooked leopard plant, potato pancake and blueberry tea made by hotels and restaurants in Samjiyon City, including Milyong Hotel, Ponnamu Hotel and Uncurdled Bean Curd Restaurant of the Samjiyon City Public Catering Establishment, were also popular among visitors for their local flavor.
At the closing ceremony held on August 14, the jury results were announced and diplomas were awarded to the highly appreciated organizations and participants. -0-
