Malaysia, Singapore Committed To Strengthening Cooperation Across Sectors
SINGAPORE, Aug 20 (Bernama) -- Malaysia and Singapore have underscored the importance of maintaining positive momentum in their long-standing bilateral relations to further strengthen cooperation across various fields, the Malaysian High Commission in Singapore said.
The commitment was reaffirmed during an introductory courtesy call by the new Malaysian High Commissioner to Singapore, Anizan Siti Hajjar Adnin, on Foreign Minister Dr Vivian Balakrishnan on Wednesday.
Both sides also exchanged views on bilateral relations and discussed the need to continue exploring ways to improve the lives of ordinary citizens in both countries, particularly those with families, jobs and businesses across the border, the mission said in a Facebook post on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Balakrishnan said Singapore and Malaysia share a special relationship based on their common history, strong people-to-people ties and close cooperation across various areas.
“I am confident that High Commissioner Anizan Siti Hajjar, drawing upon her long and distinguished diplomatic career, will build on the good work of her predecessors to further strengthen our bilateral relationship," he said in his official Facebook post.
Anizan officially began her tenure as the Malaysian High Commissioner to Singapore on July 2, 2026.
